Stop Making Excuses

stop making excuses

We don’t need any video. We are mostly word of mouth advertising. A video is something we are looking at in the future. I can’t really make use of it in my business or industry. A video, it’s a luxury item for a business. It’s too expensive.

These are just some of the excuses that I have heard over my many years of being in the video production business. Stick around for the rest of this article and you’ll find out exactly why those excuses are total bullshit.

Video? Video? We don’t need no stinkin’ video!

Really? it’s 2017, you probably can’t get more than 4 clicks away from this post with out finding a video, let alone a video that is brought to you by a company. Video is everywhere today. A video is an essential part of a businesses marketing campaign. Not just online video either. Video has been a staple of marketing for decades, remember television ads? The platform to use video has expanded beyond TV and now includes digital. Saying you don’t need video in 2017 is like saying you don’t need a website or a sales person. Saying “we don’t need video” is saying a lot about your company, for instance, your unwillingness to adopt new markets, or to understand your current one. A bold statement? Yes. but when a simple Google search or even better a search on my site, will tell you that video is the new trend, and it has been for a while now. If you’re not on that “trend” right now you have simply failed to understand the current market. You have failed to understand that Internet video traffic will be 69% of all global consumer Internet traffic in 2017 or that by 2019, internet video traffic will account for 80% of all consumer Internet traffic. Video is the primary way to consume content in this day and age, it’s the way it is and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon.

We are mostly word of mouth

Do you not understand how the internet works these days? Google reviews, Facebook reviews, Yelp, Trip Advisor. Really I could rest my case right there couldn’t I? So let’s just look at some cool stats about video that will show why it is one of the best word of mouth tools available. This one is a good one. 92 percent of mobile video viewers share videos with others.Or maybe this one, Social video generates 1200% more shares than text and images combined. Want your content to get that sort of share? a video of your business, telling your message, all day every day out there to be shared that much? Sounds like some pretty rockin’ word of mouth to me.

Looking to do video in the future

As Jim Carey said in the Cable Guy, “The Future is NOW!” No seriously, the future is now. Video use has been on the rise, it isn’t slowing down. YouTube has over a billion users, almost one-third of total internet users. That is a major chunk of the world population who are on youtube right now. More than 500 million hours of videos are watched on YouTube each day. If you’re not using video, there is obviously no chance your video will be one that is watched. More video content is uploaded in 30 days than the major U.S. television networks have created in 30 years. That’s a lot of content. Now I know the argument can be made, “won’t I just get lost amongst all the cat videos?” That is a possibility if you just throw it on youtube with out any thought or planning. But if done well, and implemented well across multiple platforms it is possible to not get lost in a sea of hilarious cat videos.

Can’t use video in my industry

B2B? B2C? it doesn’t matter. Do you have a business card? A website? Your business, despite what market or industry you’re in can benefit from a video. Perhaps a sales video, an About Us video, or customer testimonial videos. Having a video on your site or social media is like having a sales person 24/7. If you sell to executives or consumers, products or services you can benefit from the boost a video can provide. Visitors who view product videos are 85% more likely to buy than visitors who do not. Video helps make people more likely to buy its no surprise that marketers who use video grow revenue 49% faster than non-video users. A boost like that can be used in any industry.

Video is a luxury item, it’s too expensive.

51% of marketing professionals worldwide name video as the type of content with the best ROI. A video doesn’t have to cost millions of dollars to be beneficial for your business. A quality video from me, about 1-2 minutes long that goes over your story or the about us of your business starts at just $1,500. With increased time on site, increased conversion and growing revenue faster, 49% faster. How long would it take to get $2,000 back? Not too long would be my guess. Remember video has the best ROI and the investment starts at $1,500, that’s not too bad. You have probably thrown that much money away in the last quarter trying to grow your business in other ways. For less than a month of paid advertising on Google, Facebook, and Linkedin you can get a great quality video. Google, Facebook, Linkedin and Instagram algorithms all prefer video, and video has the farthest reach over other post types on those sites. Here’s the kicker, you do PPC (pay per click) you run it for a month on those sites you’ve spent your $1,500 and you’re done. With a video it can live on your website and social media as long as you like, continuing to be a sales person for you, continuing to get you shares and spreading your message. The PPC you paid for, won’t do that its only for a month. A video will outlast, and turn over leads and sales quicker than PPC, it will connect better than a billboard or a bus, and it will rank higher than photos and text on social media. A video will outperform all of those, longer and that makes it an amazing value. Sure you can go to someone other than me for a video and you may get it cheaper, but it won’t have the quality, and that won’t help your business image either.

Wrap it up my coffee needs a refill

OK, in all seriousness. I get it, your business is pulled in lots of directions and there are lots of places to spend your money on growing your business. It’s confusing and crazy at times. I understand that navigating the ever changing, shark infested sometimes tumultuous and murky waters of social media can be difficult. You don’t want to invest in your business and lose out and be no better off than you were, except for a lighter wallet. I’ve spent money on my business that I thought would help, it didn’t. I see people spend their hard earned money on a video that is just garbage and I know it won’t help. I want to make sure when you invest in your business with a video from me, your money is in the right spot. That video will help and will be worth it. You will be proud to show it off, and you will be proud to put your business name on it. I won’t make you pay to put your name on a video that I wouldn’t put my name on too. I understand that you don’t want to get burned, and video may not even be on your radar as far as helping your business. Honestly, that’s ok, it really is. I’m here to help and answer your questions. When you’re ready, I will still be here, and I will still want to make your quality video. But don’t wait too long, your competition may call me before you do.
